PALM BEACH TO SHELLY BEACH marathon swim 26km

The Palm Beach to Shelly swim is an open water swimming event in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, New South Wales, Australia, designed to cater for the increased demand for long distance swimming and the interest from local, interstate and international swimmers. The swim starts from Palm Beach and finishes at Shelly Beach comprising of a 26km or 27km swim. If beach conditions are considered too dangerous for either or both swimmers and paddlers, the start position will be moved one km north along the beach. The swim is open to solos, duos, and teams of four. The 26km ultra-marathon swim is open to qualified solo swimmers.

The aim is to attract world-class, elite swimmers to compete in the Palm to Shelly Beach as part of the world calendar for marathon swimming. Also, to assist swimmers preparing for the Ocean’s seven channel swims.

Registrations will open at 5:30am till 06:15

A representative of each team, duo and all solo swimmers must present to the registration desk one hour prior to their allocated start time. Each swimmer will have an allocated number written on both arms before starting and must collect their timing band, which is to be worn on the left ankle for the duration of the race. Registrations will close STRICTLY 30 MINUTES before each race allocated wave time.

Swimmers must not be dropped off, by support boats at Palm Beach. Swimmers should be in contact with their support vessel to ensure they are in the holding area 45 minutes before the particular allocated start time.

Finish line

All swimmers will finish the event on Shelly beach. Race end Shelley beach, cut off time is 18:30 or 12 hours after start of race.

Doctors and lifesavers will be on the beach to attend to any medical emergencies and issues.
